The only known photo that includes the mill in the early 1900s.
This photo, taken in the late 1920’s, shows Alasa farms recovering from the fire that caused the destruction of the original Shaker Meeting House. It also destroyed the barn that sat where the Horse Barn is today.
The barns were still painted red from their time under the ownership of the Parshall family. If you look closely, you can see the bunkhouse under construction as well as the barn at the end of Shaker Rd. and the Mill before later fires destroyed both of those as well.
Coincidentally, this is the only known photo that includes the mill. Also notice the pastureland on both sides of Second Creek which has since grown up to swallow much of this land.
If you have photos or memories of the mill on Second Creek, north of Red Mill Rd, we would love to see them and hear from you!
